Wollongong Wolves Football Club is excited to announce the new signing of former Melbourne Victory and former Australian U23 defender Dylan Ryan for the 2024 NPL season.

Ryan, a 23-year-old defender, joins the Wolves after spending the last two season with Dutch side FC Den Bosch. Earlier in his career, Ryan was part of Liverpool’s youth system and then signed with Eredivisie club Willem II in the Netherlands. In November 2020, Ryan joined Melbourne Victory where he made 19 appearances and scored 2 goals before returning to Holland.

Born in Wollongong, Ryan was extremely excited to be returning back to his childhood club “I’m very excited to sign for this great club and looking forward to this season. I’m a Wollongong boy. I grew up here and it was a matter of time before I would come and play at the club” Ryan said.

“I have been playing overseas for almost 10 years and I am still young, so I believe the experience I have gained will help the club this year and into the future. The announcement of the National Second Tier is also exciting and one of the main reasons why I decided to come home and start fresh” Ryan added.

Coach David Carney said he was extremely happy to secure the services of a young player with so much experience “Dylan is a very talented young defender and is another quality addition to our squad. He was a member of the Olyroos, played in the A-League and in Europe so he has got plenty of experience and will no doubt strengthen our back line” Carney said.
