WOLVES APPOINT FULL-TIME GENERAL MANAGER
The Wollongong Wolves Football Club announced today, it has appointed Mark Upton as the club’s new General Manager.
Following the departure of Strebre Delovski, the club began a search for a new General Manager to help guide the Wolves on a full-time basis. Mr Upton’s role will be to oversee all areas of the club’s operations to ensure the region continues to be represented at the highest level possible and to lead the club into the future, with a strong focus towards the start of the National Second Tier competition due to commence in March/April 2025.
“Mark comes from a strong and extensive background across all aspects in business, tourism and major events nationally and abroad, and we are excited to welcome Mark to the club and look forward to working with him,” Wollongong Wolves Chairman Tory Lavalle said.
Mr Upton has served for the past six years as the general manager of The Sage Wollongong.
“I am excited and honoured to be given the opportunity to join the Wolllongong Wolves, a club which has a proud and strong history of representing the Illawarra region,” Mr Upton said.
“The club is passionate about the Illawarra footballing community and the future of the game in our region.
“I look forward to continuing the great work that has already been done and leading the club into an exciting time ahead.”
Mr Upton currently serves as a director of Destination Wollongong and is a committee member of Healthier Illawarra Men.
He has held leadership positions across national hospitality groups over the past decade, has worked on a variety of national sporting and community events and is a passionate advocate and fundraiser for the Bravehearts charity.
Mark will commence his new role from May 13, 2024.
