More recently, Pat spent five years at A-League club Sydney FC, serving as a Head Coach in their youth program and as a Technical Lead in their schools programs. **Quote from Pat McCann:**
“I’m thrilled to join the Wollongong Wolves as the Youth Technical Director. The club’s vision and philosophy align perfectly with my own, and the timing couldn’t be better. I’m excited to work with dedicated coaches and talented players, and I’m committed to fostering an environment where young talent can thrive. Together, we’ll build on the strong foundations already in place and continue to innovate in youth development.” said McCann.
With his fresh perspective, Pat is set to enhance the Wolves’ youth program, building on our strong foundations and driving our commitment to nurturing the next generation of football talent in the region. He will begin working closely with staff in the background to plan for the next season.
Club Technical Director, Jacob Timpano said, “Luke Wilkshire, the club, and I have conducted a thorough recruitment process. We didn’t rush this appointment, as we were focused on finding the right fit and the best person for the job. Pat brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in youth development. He is a strong leader and will offer a fresh set of eyes to the club. Pat will collaborate with our coaches and players to continually enhance the program and implement the best practices for player development. With likely changes to the youth competition structure in the coming years, we believe Pat is the ideal Technical Director to lead these initiatives and elevate our program.”
We are excited to welcome Pat to the team and look forward to the positive impact he will bring.
Along with Pats appointment, a new football department structure has been established. Luke Wilkshire will serve as the Board’s Football Director, focusing on the senior program from under-18s and up, particularly the transition from youth to senior football, aiming to create a stronger path for our juniors.
Jacob Timpano will continue as the Club Technical Director, concentrating on the SAP program as we proceed through the FNSW club assessment.
